Blue Dragons, American Football Club, was formed in July 2003 in Belgrade, and was one of the seven teams that formed Serbian Association of American Football SAFS. First game this team played in early November, 2003 and first victory came in December of the same year.But, as almost as all teams in Serbia, they played football without necessary pads and helmets until 2007 Season. The year before that Blue Dragons merged with only College team in Serbia „Elektrichar“, as they tried to help that team pass problems that it had. All the players were glad that they had the opportunity to play for Blue Dragons, as they said.
In season 2007, Blue Dragons were the first team in it’s division ( Group A), and in the end they reached to the semifinals in Serbian National League, eventually losing after three overtimes against it’s town rivals.
They had 7 players in the tryout for the national team that played in Euro 2007.
In the Season 2008 Team expectations were high. Blue Dragons brought American football coach Wally English who coached Miami Dolphins as an OC, and a Division I college programs as a Head Coach. Two more players arrived from US to play for the Blue Dragons. Unfortunately, results missed and agreement was reached with coach English to terminated the contract. Team finished 6th in the national race, eventually missing the playoffs.
For the friendly match in the summer 2008, against Ukrainia that was canceled, Blue Dragons had 10 players in the national team.
Throughout the existence of the team, blue Dragons tried to help every team in Serbia as much as they could, with coaching help, organizational and equipment help.
Until now, this team had more than 350 players attended their football school, and in 3 teams that they have ( A team, B team, Junior team) there are around 70 active players.
